Bruno Fernandes £43m transfer plan blocked by Man Utd
Man Utd stand firm as Galatasaray prepare a £43m approach for Bruno Fernandes.
Manchester United plan to turn down any offer for Bruno Fernandes before next month’s transfer window shuts. As per the latest transfer news, Man United have made their stance clear that their captain is not for sale.
Man United turn down Galatasaray interest
As reported by BBC, Galatasaray have been weighing up a move to test United’s stance on their club captain. The club were preparing an opening offer worth around €35 million. The full package, including wages, is said to be worth far more than that. Juventus and AC Milan were also said to be watching the situation closely. So far, neither club has come forward with a firm bid this summer.
Ben Jacobs reports that Fernandes is simply not for sale at any price. That stance held firm even before any club had put an offer forward. This marks a real change from how United handled things last summer. Back then, Man United let Fernandes decide for himself over a huge offer from Al Hilal. He later admitted that choice left him feeling “hurt” and unwanted by his own club. The club say this time they want their captain to feel wanted, not tested.
Fernandes’ stats in the 2025-26 season at Man United, as per FOTMOB:
| Competitions | Matches | Goals | Assists | Tackles | Interceptions |
| Premier League | 35 | 9 | 21 | 54 | 20 |
| FA Cup | 1 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 2 |
| EFL Cup | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 |
Contract talks and fan support add pressure
Fernandes currently has one year left to run on his current deal at United. There is also a club option to add one more season on top. A release clause worth £57 million has now expired. That clause once gave clubs outside England a clear route to sign him at a fixed price. Its expiry gives United far more control heading into any future talks. Even so, a deal on fresh terms has yet to be agreed.
As reported by GOAL, Bruno Fernandes would rather stay and finish what he started at Old Trafford. Fans made their feelings known during a pre-season friendly against Leeds in Dublin. Fernandes got a loud and warm welcome from the travelling United crowd that day. That reaction sent a clear message straight to the club board. Fans want their captain kept at United, and they are not shy about saying so. A departure now would test the bond built between Fernandes and the fanbase over several seasons.

Record season strengthens the case to keep Bruno Fernandes
Fernandes comes into this new season off the back of a standout individual year. He set a Premier League record last term with twenty-one assists in total. That kind of return from a midfielder is rare in the modern game. It has also made him the clear favourite to win PFA Player of the Year. The award will be handed out at the PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester on Tuesday, 25 August.
On the pitch, Fernandes still sets the pace for United’s whole attacking game. His passing often opens up defences that other players simply cannot get through. Younger players in the squad still look to him first. From a tactical perspective, few clubs in world football have a like-for-like replacement sitting ready to come in. His numbers alone make him one of the hardest players in this Premier League to replace right now. For now, United’s stance looks settled. Their captain seems just as keen to stay put before next month’s deadline hits.
